Exhibition Announcement - Varied Vantages - A partnership between Station House Gallery and Community Arts Council of Williams Lake.
Supported by Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Society grants (funded via City of Williams Lake and Cariboo Regional District) ‘Art on the Spectrum’ classes met weekly at The Station House Gallery, in preparation for an upcoming exhibit, Varied Vantages. The classes were free of charge and intended as an inclusive and welcoming place for kiddos on the neurodivergent spectrum to come and express themselves. Participants have explored a variety of mediums from collage to acrylic to clay, as they approach topics such as masking, sensory overstimulation, and the unique challenges that come with being neurodiverse.
Station House Gallery invitation to ‘Varied Vantages’ features two artworks from creators in this collaborative and interactive exhibition
Some of the work from these classes, as well as a variety of additions from the community, will be showcased in the April exhibition at The Station House Gallery. The work will include some interactive hands-on elements, as well as some pieces available for sale with proceeds going back to the individual artists. It will speak to the creative expression of neurodivergence in art, as well as some artists personal exploration of an autistic/adhd identity in a world that isn't always optimized for their experiences. The exhibit intends to be a starting point for community conversation, as well as a learning opportunity for those curious about the neurodivergent experience. As always, visiting the gallery is free (donations welcome) and we hope you will come and see what we've been working on!
